Pour 1 rice cooker cup good quality jasmine rice into a sieve positioned over a bowl. Cover with fresh water, and agitate the rice gently with your hands until the water becomes cloudy. Drain the cloudy water and repeat the step twice more until the water runs clear and all the excess starch is removed from the rice. Drain once more and tip the rice into the inner bowl of your rice cooker.
Add water to the inner bowl to the '1' mark. Set the rice cooker to 'long grain' setting and cook. Once the rice cooker indicates that the rice is cooked, use a rice spoon to gently stir and fluff up the rice. Close the rice cooker lid and let the rice sit on keep warm mode for 10 minutes before serving.
Stir the rice gently once more with a rice spoon. Take a small bowl and fill it with cooked rice. Turn the bowl on to a plate and lift to reveal the cooked rice. Garnish with sesame seeds if desired and serve with your favourite stir-fry and curry dishes.
