- Chopped Garlic: Also sold as ‘garlic flakes’ or ‘dried chopped garlic granules‘ Something a little more substantial than garlic powder, these little nuggets of dried garlic have a good shelf life so are a great store cupboard ingredient. This makes it easy to whip up a fresh batch as you require it.
- Other Ingredients: Sunflower Oil, Sea Salt.
How To Make Chopped Garlic In Oil
To make chopped garlic in oil, the dried chopped garlic is first rehydrated by being covered with freshly boiled water, before being drained and fried in oil until golden and aromatic.
Step 1: Rehydrate The Chopped Garlic
Add the dried chopped garlic to a bowl and cover with freshly boiled water. Stand for 5 minutes. Strain the water and transfer the chopped garlic to a small frying pan.
Step 2: Fry The Chopped Garlic
Cover the chopped garlic with sunflower oil. Set the frying pan over a medium heat and then let the mix sizzle for 5 minutes. Add a pinch of sea salt as the garlic is frying. Set aside to cool completely.
Step 3: Serve / Use The Chopped Garlic
You can use the chopped garlic in oil in any dish that calls for minced garlic. It’s especially good in soups and noodle dishes, as well as in salt and chilli chicken.
