Recreate a street food classic with this delicious strawberry chocolate crepes recipe.

Crepes are a street-food favourite, and these strawberry chocolate crepes are deliciously soft and sweet. These thin pancakes come from France and have a very interesting origin story. You can prepare and cook these crepes in just a few minutes, making them a perfect dessert option. And with fresh fruit included, it’s a balanced treat!

Ingredients For Strawberry Chocolate Crepes

The crepe mix is made up of plain flour, caster sugar, sea salt, eggs and milk. You can use your favourite chocolate spread for the filling, or make your own chocolate sauce to combine with fresh strawberries.

  • Crepe Mix: Plain Flour, Caster Sugar, Sea Salt, Eggs, Milk
  • Filling: Chocolate Spread (or Chocolate Sauce), Fresh Strawberries
  • Other Ingredients: Salted Butter, Icing Sugar

How To Make Strawberry Chocolate Crepes

To make the mix, plain flour, caster sugar and salt are added to a blender along with eggs and milk and then blended to a smooth batter. The crepe mix is then cooked in batches on a crepe pan or a non-stick frying pan to form soft, thin pancakes that can be folded around chocolate spread and fresh sliced strawberries.

Step 1: Make Crepe Mix

In a blender, add 120 grams plain flour2 teaspoons caster sugar1/8 teaspoon sea salt2 eggs and 180 millilitres milk. Blend thoroughly until smooth and pour the batter mix into a bowl.

Step 2: Cook The Crepes

Heat a crepe pan or non-stick frying pan over a medium heat. When the pan is hot, add a little butter and allow to melt, but not brown. Pour a ladleful of the crepe mix into the pan. Immediately tilt the pan in a circular motion to create a thin crepe. Allow the crepe to cook for around 30-40 seconds or until just cooked. If the crepe isn’t cooked just yet, it will prove difficult to turn. When cooked, the crepe will almost begin to lift itself from the pan.

Step 3: Add The Strawberry Chocolate Crepe Fillings

Flip crepe, add a 1 tablespoon chocolate spread and use a spatula or a flat knife to spread it over the crepe. Fold the crepe over the filling ingredients.

Step 4: Serve

Transfer cooked crepe to a serving plate. Top with more chocolate, add 3 fresh strawberries. Dust generously with 1 teaspoon icing sugar and serve. Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients until all of the crepes are cooked.

Recipe Tips For Strawberry Chocolate Crepes

  • Chocolate: You can use your favourite chocolate and hazelnut spread for this recipe, or make your own chocolate sauce.
  • Fruit: This recipe also works very well with sliced fresh bananas.
  • Texture: Cooking the crepes for just 30-40 seconds will result in deliciously soft and light pancakes that fold easily over your chosen fillings, whereas cooking for just a little longer will turn them a little crisp. The resulting taste and texture is then very similar to that of an ice cream cone, if you like that kind of thing!
