These salt & chilli mozzarella sticks are so easy to make and so utterly delicious, you’ll never want to eat them any other way.
Shop bought mozzarella sticks can be a little on the bland side, so combining them with aromatic Chinese Salt & Pepper Mix is a great way to ramp up the flavour. The whole dish comes together in just a little over 10 minutes, perfect to quickly satisfy your salt & chilli cravings. If you really want to take things to another level, consider topping the whole thing with Chinese curry sauce, because why not?
- 1 small onion sliced
- 1/2 small carrot finely sliced
- 2 spring onions sliced
- 1 180g box frozen mozzarella sticks (12 sticks) I used Asda's own brand
- 2 teaspoons sunflower oil
- 1 teaspoon chopped garlic in oil
- 1 teaspoon salt & pepper seasoning or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon dried crushed chilli flakes
- 2 teaspoons rice wine
-
Prepare your vegetables and set aside on a small plate.
-
Oven bake the mozzarella sticks according to their instructions, but reduce the cooking time by 1 minute.
-
When the mozzarella sticks are almost baked, heat a wok or large frying pan over a medium-high heat. Add the oil to the wok and swirl around the pan. Add the sliced onion and carrot and stir-fry for 30 seconds. Add the sliced spring onion and chopped garlic in oil and mix well.
-
Add the mozzarella sticks to the pan and season generously with the Chinese salt & pepper mix, stirring well to mix through. Add the crushed chilli flakes and rice wine, mix well once more and your salt & chilli mozzarella sticks are ready to serve.
