How To Make Breadmaker 6 Seed Loaf
Since this recipe begins with 6 seed wheat flour and uses a breadmaker, all that’s required is to add the seeded flour to the breadmaker tin along with the remaining ingredients. With the tin arranged inside the breadmaker, set it to ‘white’ or ‘standard’ and bake as per your breadmaker instructions. I like to add 5 minutes to the bake time for this loaf for a little more colour on the crust, so you might like to try this if your breadmaker has a similar function.
If you don’t have a breadmaker, you can use the same recipe, kneading the dough by hand for 10 minutes. Set aside to prove for around 2 hours, knock back and shape into a loaf. Set aside on a baking tray to prove again for another 45 minutes and bake at 180C for 30-40 minutes.
Follow the whole recipe below – it takes just a minute to put together, and then the breadmaker does the work!
Step 1: Add Ingredients
To a breadmaker tin, add seeded flour, salt, sugar, yeast, butter and water. Put the tin into the breadmaker.
Step 2: Bake Seeded Wholemeal Bread
Bake on the breadmaker’s medium ‘white loaf’ setting (typically around 4 hours). Once the breadmaker indicates the 6 seed loaf is baked, take it out of the tin and set it aside on a wire rack until completely cool.
Step 3: Serve
Slice and serve.

Breadmaker 6 Seed Loaf Recipe FAQ
Make Ahead
Many breadmaker models now offer a timer function. With butter added cold from the fridge, this recipe is ideal set on a timer the night before, delivering a freshly baked loaf of bread for you to arise to in the morning. There’s nothing quite like the enticing aroma of freshly baked bread to wake you up in the best of moods!
Can I add different seeds to the bread?
Absolutely – this recipe is so versatile! I often add 1-2 tablespoons of chia seeds, sesame seeds and porridge oats to the mix for even more nutritional benefits.
Is this 6 seed loaf wholemeal?
No – most brands of 6 seed flour are made with white wheat flour, with seeds added. However, you can easily add a wholemeal element if you’d like. For example, try using 300g 6 seed flour + 100g strong wholemeal bread flour to create a seeded wholemeal loaf with extra fibre and flavour.
Can I make 6 seed bread without a bread maker?
Yes. Knead the dough by hand for 10 minutes until smooth, then cover with a clean, damp cloth and set aside for 1 hour. Knead and shape, cover again and set aside for another 2 hours. Slide the prepared dough on to a lightly floured baking tray and bake in a preheat oven at 200C for 30-40 minutes.
