Blueberry Smoothie (Coffee Shop Style)

A blueberry smoothie in a tall serving glass.

Delicious and naturally sweet, this blueberry smoothie recipe is full of goodness, and a is perfect way to use frozen fruit!

This tasty and nutritious smoothie is packed with healthy ingredients and takes just a few minutes to prepare. I usually have it for breakfast, but it’s a delicious pick me up any time of the day. With porridge oats, flaxseed and yogurt, it’s a filling milkshake that you can be sure is giving you plenty of health benefits. When it comes to finding energy for the day, this smoothie is a great way to kick start things.

To make this blueberry smoothie, I use frozen blueberries. This not only helps to thicken the drink slightly but also helps to make a deliciously cold and refreshing smoothie without the need to add any ice. I add the frozen fruit to a blender jug (I use a ninja blender) with the remaining ingredients and blend thoroughly until completely smooth. As well as the fruit portion, the smoothie includes a whole host of other good stuff. With blueberries and cinnamon, it has some natural sweetness. But, you could add some sugar or honey.

Ingredients For Blueberry Smoothie

Handily, a lot of ingredients that are great for smoothies are also great for long term storage. Frozen fruit and dry flaxseed / hemp, as well as turmeric, beetroot powder and cinnamon all keep well for a reasonable amount of time. This makes them and this recipe ideal for a quick, but healthy option.

  • Blueberries: Frozen blueberries will also help make your smoothie cold without the need to add any ice.
  • Spinach: If I’ve got fresh spinach I’ll add a small handful to this smoothie, but the recipe works with or without. it
  • Dry Ingredients: Porridge Oats, Ground Flaxseed, Ground Hemp, Turmeric Powder, Beetroot Powder, Cinnamon.
  • Other Ingredients: Kefir Yogurt, Water.

How To Make Blueberry Smoothie

Gathering your ingredients together takes you 3/4 of the way there with this recipe. All of the ingredients are simply combined in the blender (if you don’t have a powerful blender, check your model and the instructions and add the ingredients in the order recommended).

Step 1: Ingredients

To a blender cup, add the frozen blueberries, spinach, oats, flaxseed, hemp, turmeric, beetroot, cinnamon, yogurt and water. Add sugar or honey for more sweetness, if desired.

Step 2: Blend

Blend thoroughly until completely smooth, adding a touch more water if necessary.

Step 3: Serve

Pour the blended blueberry smoothie into a tall glass and serve.

Recipe Tips:

Yogurt: I like using kefir yogurt in this recipe but regular natural yogurt will work.

Sweet: A little sugar, honey or even maple syrup will make the smoothie sweeter if you’d like.
