Pizza Sauce Recipe FAQ

What is passatta rustica?
Passata rustica is a thick passata with more pulp than standard passata. It has a more texture and a ‘home made’ feel (hence the name) and is delicious in pizza sauce or pasta dishes. You can buy it online here.

Can I use passata for pizza sauce?
Passata will work for this recipe, but will make a thinner smoother sauce, while passata rustica gives more texture and is more substantial.

  1. 4 stars
I like my sauce a bit thicker & sweeter so I also add 4 spoonful’s of Tomato Purée and 1 level spoonful of brown sugar.

I use exactly the same Cirio sauce as you do.

I also put the sauce on a low simmer for about 10mins before allowing to cool for a few hours before using.
